Memories

Fritz P. from Onalaska, WI wrote: It was a great honor to have the lowest ERA in the history of Old Yankee Stadium. I thank God I was a Yankee!
Dick F. from Genoa, IL wrote: I think that it was 1964 and the Genoa Merchants were heading for the Amateur World series in Battle Creek Michigan. Fritz was working for a carpenter and he hit his left thumb with a hammer and could not pitch the 1st game of the series. We lost the 1st game and won the second and Fritz pitched and won the 3rd. We had one of the better teams in the tournament and he was probably one of the best pitchers in the tournament. I think that the Yankees signed him right after the tournament.
