Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Dave Winfield

Acquired: December 15, 1980: Dave was signed as a free agent by the New York Yankees to a 10-year deal.

Traded:  May 11, 1990: Dave was traded to the California Angels in return for RHP Mike Witt.

Visitor Comments: Mitch F. from Brooklyn wrote, "Dave Winfield was my favorite player after Thurman Munson died until the day he retired. He played hard and hustled like Pete Rose. Winnie is actually a really good person, giving back to the community and fans. He was a role model in professional sports which is not very common these days. Strangely, as an older person now, I look back on the reasons I appreciated Winnie for being a good man and I am proud that I felt that way about a ball player when I was a teenager. I was happy for him when he won in Toronto. Keep up the good work Dave."
