Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Bob Cerv

Notes

  • In 1951, Bob was assigned #7 after Cliff Mapes was traded to the St. Louis Browns.  In 12 games with the Yankees in August, Bob struggled, hitting .214 and was demoted.  Mickey Mantle was recalled from the minors, took over #7 and the rest was history.  Also making Bob the last Yankee to wear #7 before Mickey Mantle.
