Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Pat Listach

Acquired: August 23, 1996: Pat was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers with a player to be named later and Graeme Lloyd to the New York Yankees for Bob Wickman and Gerald Williams. The Milwaukee Brewers sent Ricky Bones (August 29, 1996) to the New York Yankees to complete the trade. Pat, the 1992 AL Rookie of the Year, was returned to the Brewers on October 2, 1996 because of "undisclosed injuries" at the time of the trade.  Reportedly, Graeme Lloyd also had undisclosed injuries and it was easy to believe based on how he pitched to close out the regular season. Of course, he was lights out in October, so the Yankees kept him. However, Listach was sent back to Milwaukee. Some speculate that this deal may have been the last straw for GM Bob Watson, ultimately costing him his job despite winning the World Series.

Notes: Paul from Wading River notes that Pat wore #29 in his very brief time with the Yankees in 1996.
