Paul from Wading River notes that Ron was assigned #24 on the opening day roster in 1971 before being traded for Felipe Alou.

Ed from Wappingers Falls, N.Y. wrote: "Ron passed away on November 13, 2009 of heart failure at Plainview Hospital on Long Island. He was a 1962 graduate of W.Tresper Clarke high school in Westbury, L.I.. He was the first professional athelete from our school. He originally signed with the Red Sox in 1964. He was also a high school team mate of Al "Skippy" Jutze, who also made it to the majors as a catcher with the Houston Astros. Ron never forgot his days on Long Island . After the Season finished he would often be playing softball games with a local tavern in Westbury."
