Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Claudell Washington

July 7, 1987: Claudell goes 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI as the Yankees stage a dramatic, late game comeback against the first place Minnesota Twins in a 12-7 win.  The Yankees entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 7-0 at Yankee Stadium, but exploded for seven runs in the seventh and five in the eighth for an improbable victory.  Claudell chipped in with a single in the seventh to keep the rally alive and cut it to 7-5.  Then, in the eighth, capped the scoring with a back breaking two out, three run home run.

Acquired: June 30, 1986: Claudell was acquired with Paul Zuvella from the Atlanta Braves for Andre Robertson and Ken Griffey.

Notes: Paul from Wading River notes that in 1986, Claudell started with #33 when he joined the Yankees, then switched to #18.
