Notes

Mike R. from Westbury, N.Y. and Denver, CO wrote: "I live in Denver but went to [W.Tresper] Clarke (Class of 78.) Ron grew up on Edgewood in the house next to the Clarke parking lot. I also grew up on Edgewood further down the block. He and Skip [Al "Skippy" Jutze - Mentioned in another "Memory"] were two of my heroes. Had a catch with Ron a few times. I now live in Denver and decades later I found out that Skip lives here, too. He was a coach at Columbine. One day I drove down and watched practice, then introduced myself. He was amazed that I went to Clarke and we had a great chat. Big thrill for me."

Ed from Wappingers Falls, N.Y. wrote: "Ron passed away on November 13, 2009 of heart failure at Plainview Hospital on Long Island. He was a 1962 graduate of W.Tresper Clarke high school in Westbury, L.I.. He was the first professional athelete from our school. He originally signed with the Red Sox in 1964. He was also a high school team mate of Al "Skippy" Jutze, who also made it to the majors as a catcher with the Houston Astros. Ron never forgot his days on Long Island. After the Season finished he would often be playing softball games with a local tavern in Westbury."
