Facts, Trivia, Memories and More about Dale Long

Memories: Rich R. from Syracuse submitted the following memory of Dale Long: "Dale Long was a neighbor of mine when I was a kid. This was well after his "retirement" from MLB. In the late 70's Dale moved to Saratoga Springs (actually the town of Gansevoort) New York. Dale and his wife moved in just up the street from my family's home. Dale was a sports announcer for a local TV station at the time and ran a baseball camp for kids in the area. Mr. Long was always a great, kind man who would tell us kids stories and show us some of his prized MLB possessions (such as "the ring") and the bats that he used while hitting his 8 consecutive HR games. Dale & his wife formed a great friendship with my parents. Mr. Long passed away a few years ago and his wife over the last year. Dale will always be remembered as one of the greatest Yankees in my opinion (I never had the chance to see him play live since I was too young at the time he played) because of his great stats and great personality."
